Denim - My way of life!

One pair of clothing that's never gone out of fashion is "a pair of jeans". This is one essential pair of clothing after Unmentionables that rules everyone's wardrobe. You love it or you hate it but you just can't do without it. It's the kind of relationship I share with my pair of blue denims .

"Denim is a love that never fades"

You can be unlucky in love but the love one shares with their fav pair of jeans never fades away.. In fact it gets better with age. For me fashion comes later, what essentially comes first is comfort. Be it at home, family outings, formal meetings or just a day out with kids ... nothing keeps me away from my comfortable pair of jeans. Although it's comfortable and easy to pair up with almost everything ...it never lets me down when it comes to looking great.

           Style #1- Comfy yet Stylish

One can play around with the same pair of jeans and still manage to look equally great when compared to other dressy outfits. Denim can make you look girly, sophisticated, rough & tough all at once. It's up to you to choose your own style and make it look versatile..

As the Friday rolls in we are already short of clothes and struggling to find what to wear? That's when the formula "when in doubt wear denim" comes to my rescue. Some one has rightly said "Give a girl the right jeans and she can conquer the world". So I quickly pull on my Low waist slim fit jeans and I am ready is roll.

Glam up your casual, distressed denim with a sheer beaded or sequinned tank to make it look effortlessly chic and glamorous. Top it up with a jacket or a cardigan when the temperature starts to drop. Girl next door style just got a whole lot sexier.

Style #2 - Glam up to a casual girl next door look 

"When in doubt wear denim"

This works for me almost at all occasions. When in doubt just "Go Classic" Pair up your blue jeans with a white shirt /T- shirt. One can never go wrong with this classy combination that's been chosen by the style icons over the years. Just a touch of denim in your outfit and there you go. .. be it a denim jacket, a denim belt or denim on denim ...It never fails to stand out.

"Make a statement in your pair of jeans"

One need not worry in a pair of denims as it complements whatever you pair it up with. If you own a pair of jeans ... You are good to go! All you need is some quick styling tips to make it look like a million bucks. A simple look can be transformed into a stunning diva just by adding some trendy accessories along with high heeled stilettos or pumps.

Style#4 - Keep it to minimal yet elegant

In order to get that classy yet simple look when we are in a dressing rut with no megastar budget in hand ... "Experimenting with the look is the key". I get lot of inspiration from celebrity dressing and add a dash of my personal flavour and it works wonders for me.

Just a white T shirt under a tailored jacket can look effortlessly rebellious when paired up with blue jeans and I so adore what Yves saint Laurent said "Jeans have expression, modesty, sex appeal and simplicity".

I like to keep it Low-key in a boyfriend button down and my favourite pair of jeans ... By keeping the look whole lot polished for possibly all the running around town and kids.

My very first experiment 'a DIY off the shoulder top'

Cleaning out my closet is one of the toughest jobs that I find to do. I have time for everything else in life but whenever it's comes to arranging my wardrobe ... I just have no time! N how would I ? It's a day long job to sort my clothes starting from the ones I haven't worn in ages but can't part ways with them :( They are too damn special for me. Then there are ones I don't fit into but still occupy my space cause I dream to fit into them some day ..!

Finally after delaying it for like ages, I decided to sort my closet and there were some deep hidden clothes that saw the light of the day. After sorting out from tops to bottoms to old ones to new-ones to fitted ones to loose ones.. I  decided to give few of my old favourites away and kept them aside. But soon was back to square one as I changed my mind..  I like them all and I want to wear them but how? That's when it clicked and the idea worked like wonders for me.. Now I knew exactly what I am gonna do with the clothes I like but still don't like ... You know what I mean!

Why not cut off what I don't like anymore to give it a new look... must give it a try!

Now of course I didn't want to try my hands at something new and spoil it. Best was to pick an old top or my hubby's t shirt for that matter and try creating something new.. sounds great!

So here I go.. This was an old t shirt I picked! Oops I forgot to click the one I cut.. Even I didn't believe it would be worth sharing with you guys looking at my cutting skills initially..

So this is exactly how it looked in shape and size- A large men's t shirt.

Since this was my first time at cutting.. and experimenting.. I myself wasn't sure what its gonna look like .. Wanted to keep my experiment to the minimal and went ahead cutting cautiously.. Little lessons from my school days did help me though .. Thanks to SUPW classes which i hated the most then :)

I loved the new look of this old t shirt.. simple,casual yet stylish..!! OMG I am gonna try more and more and more of this ... lol!

I wore it to my kids school to show it off to other moms and guess what they loved it too and had no clue that its an old Tee revamped into new..

Well that's the kind of revolution we are witnessing in the fashion industry today and its being accepted and experimented by the fashionistas all over the world...

All you need to do is style your tresses differently keeping in mind if its a morning or an evening look and accessorize with a chunk of matching jewelry to add that extra spark to your appearance ....

Is dressing up unaesthetically is misconceived as Fashion ??

Fashion has always been there and will always be ...In other words fashion is never gonna go out of fashion ...but the question is..Are we confusing fashion with immorality?? Is dressing up unaesthetically is misconceived as fashion ??

For me fashion has never been simply following trends from bollywood or fashion magazines..I prefer adapting to the fashion so that it enhances my outer appearance and is pleasing at the same time ....

My dad always believed in the proverb 'Clothes make the man' ....I still remember how we were reminded time and again to be presentable whether we visited someone's house, market or even when we had guests over..... Dare we came out in drawing rooms in our night suits or nighties.

Well trimmed and neatly tied hair ...with crisp ironed clothes..and a pair of appropriate shoes..... are the memories from my childhood.

One reason could be that I come from an Army background but I would still not believe that it wud ever become a fashion when people would feel pride in a pair of ripped jeans and step out in so called bathroom slippers (which was only meant for bathrooms) ...and still be considered cool and happening.

There was a time when neatly done up classy hair buns and braids used to make style statements...On a contrary...Now a days fuzzy braids, messy hair and out of the bed look is the talk of the town.

Though I accept that times have changed and especially in a place like Mumbai... People really don't care who is wearing what and have a very chilled out attitude.... However I fail to understand how
could it be so cool to dress shabbily and yet not bother of what others have to say ....

On one side where Mumbai projects the best of the fashion brands, accessories and new trends ....the other side people just look comfortable in their own skin ..and give a damn....to people's eyes gauging  their appearance ...Be it a model or a celebrity.. 

I understand they can't be dressed like million bucks all the time but at least don't be so poorly dressed as u have just been dragged out of bed ...( even out of the bed look is not so scruffy )

I really wonder why do we have our closets full of clothes when all we need is a pair of torn shorts and a Ganji that works well for all occasions..

I would feel sorry if they didn't earn enough to efford another pair ... But believe me these are the people earning like crazy n would prefer to step out in style ..

Even for men, more facial hair the better...it's considered fashionable to not shave for weeks and step out like one zombie.

I remember Dad always said ...There is a lot you can tell about a person by their shoes..and a mans footwear plays a very significant role in how he wants to be perceived as a man.

 

Dressing simply and comfortably was always considered the priority. According to Leonardo da Vinci.. simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Simplicity comes from purity, beauty and quality ... But
would you consider today's generation sophisticated??

Even if i choose to say yes which i doubt...My parents generation would never get convinced with this idea of fashion and style.

I personally feel we should spent at least a good few minutes...before the mirror to ensure we don't become a laughing stalk outside the comforts of our home.

I believe fashion is having a style of your own rather than blindly copying others... Always wear
comfortable clothing that looks gud on you not on your favorite star.. Dressing is a huge part of ones
personality and speaks volumes about them.

Everyone dresses up for an event or a wedding ...but how you project yourself in your daily wear is what people perceive of you .. 

As a child I was always told a well ironed and well fitted clothes are a requisite ... Then comes the colour the texture the brand and so on ..

We have indoors to dress as casually as we wish to ... However when we walk in a crowd we are bound to be judged by our looks and that's what we call a first impression ...

So here I would say Follow trends, be fashionable but above all keep it simple, decent and dignified ... Cause that's never gonna go out of fashion ..whatsoever.
